Music shaped by story

About Sarah
Creating story-led music for stage, screen, and extraordinary spaces
Sarah Llewellyn is a UK-based composer, sound artist, and music director working across the arts in the UK and internationally. She creates original music, songs, and soundscapes for stage, screen, radio, circus, outdoor arts, and the concert hall.
Originally from Liverpool, Sarah studied composition at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. Her work is shaped by classical training, a period “Running away with a circus,” a Composer Residency at the Royal Shakespeare Company, and over twenty years of composing across artistic, commercial, and charitable projects. After two decades in London, she is now based in the Yorkshire Dales.
Sarah collaborates closely with directors, producers, writers, choreographers, and creative teams, composing distinctive, responsive scores that serve the work at their heart.
Her work spans intimate theatrical settings and large-scale outdoor events, balancing detailed musical craft with an instinct for atmosphere and place. Whether composing for live performance, screen, or installation, her music is guided by dramatic intent and crafted through collaboration.
